CranioSacral Therapy featured on RTE’s ‘Baby On Board’ programme

CranioSacral is one of the most effective hands-on therapies that is able to stimulate a baby’s intelligence to realign and balance cranial bones and release any stress after birth. It is effective for traumatic births, (ie. Caesarean section) by helping rebalance the inherent systems of the body back into balance. It facilitates the healing safely and gently, after all the birth canal is the last process of mother natures knitting machine and babies born by caesarean section miss out on this journey.

CranioSacral is one of the most powerful treatments available for removing the negative effects of birth trauma. Simply and gently CranioSacral removes any compression patterns imbedded during the birth process on your child’s CranioSacral system. Any stress you may have experienced prenatal or postnatal are gently removed and rebalanced.

CranioSacral system is comprised of the bones of cranium (skull) and sacrum (triangular bone just above tail bone), the membrane surrounding the brain and spinal cord encasing the cerebrospinal fluid, and the fascia enveloping every organ, muscle, nerve and blood vessel throughout the body. These can be felt as a pulsating rhythmic motion not unlike that of respiration (six to twelve cycles per min called cranial rhythm).

CranioSacral therapy is quite simply one of the most powerful and effective therapies for rebalancing and integrating any dysfunction in the CranioSacral system. A healthy person full of vitality and wellbeing will have CranioSacral system functioning in a balanced and harmonious way.

The treatment involves a very light hands on touch, using finely tuned palpation skills and trained in following the patterns of the CranioSacral system and allowing them to rebalance and the therapist will help your system self heal and release old patterns.

The compressive forces experienced during birth as a result of the passage through the pelvis and the tight fit in the birth canal can cause imbalance in a baby’s system; even in natural and apparently problem-free births. Common new-born’s problems like colic, sucking problems and respiratory difficulties may be due to compression arising from birth trauma. These can develop into problems later in life: depression, migraine, sinusitis, spinal and pelvic pain can often be traced back to what happened at birth.

Examination of young children by CranioSacral therapists may be not only curative, but also helpful in preventing problems later in life. Health issues in adults which are linked to their birth or very early experience can be back-tracked and resolved retrospectively. Early treatment is extremely important to ensure complete resolution and removal of trauma from birth.
