HORSES HELPING PEOPLE - EQUINE FACILITATED CST

REPRESENTED AT EFETA CONFERENCE, DUBLIN

The first ever EFETA (Equine Facilitated Education & Training Association) Conference was held in Ireland on 24th & 25th May 2013. Hosted by Festina Lente Foundation, Bray, Co Wicklow, a gathering of 80 people from various professions came to listen and experience various models of equine facilitated work. The participants included a wide range of people from therapists to representatives from the Irish Horse Board, Riding for the Disabled, and many more - all with a common interest in horses and how they can be partnered to help people. With a particilar emphasis on horse welfare Deirdre Kennedy and Fiona McDevitt presented at the conference explaining the benefits of treating people and horses with Craniosacral therapy and incorporating horses in CST treatments. A practical demonstration of both was given in the afternoon with the assistance of Lily Enright. The concepts and research were very well received and a lot of interest in CST was sparked.
